Forest Souls Couple of the Week

Say what’s up to our Forest Souls Couple of the Week; Quentin and Olga Green- located in Finland!  Seven trees have been planted through Quentin’s purchases and he surprised his woman with a Sacred Tree racerback tank top.  Sweet guy, isn’t he?!   I asked them what has inspired them to be part of nature.  “I was born deaf and I wasn’t taught ASL until I was seven or eight years old, unfortunately.  Before I learned ASL, I spent most of my time exploring nature because I was not able to communicate with people, so I consider Nature as my first language. It has taught me how to survive, appreciate, and simply connect with the world without words.” Quentin answered.

What about you, Olga? I asked.  “I used to love connecting with nature when I was a young kid then I lost my interest in nature when I got older because I was so focused on being part of society like getting my degree, etc.  Until I met Quentin, he has reminded me how important it is to appreciate nature.  Starting last year, we both have explored a lot and I found myself again after that.  Recently, I started a new hobby by collecting some herbs, berries, and mushrooms. These are super good!”  She laughed.

What is your favorite tree and why?  “The Birch is the national tree of Finland and they are the most important broadleaved tree species to us because they have incredible healing properties!  In our culture, we use saunas all the time and we use some of Birch trees’ essential oils for the hot water.  When the water is warm, we would pour it over our head to let the birch tree essential oil run down through our hair.” Olga answered.  “Also, birch trees produce smooth, silky saps that tastes similar to maple syrup; these can be used for food like salads.” Quention added.

In addition, Quentin and Olga want to share their message: "When you take something from nature, be sure to give something back."

Thank you, guys, for your beautiful support and sharing your love for trees with us!
